Our Technical Diving Philosophy

If you feel intrigued by the darkness of the depths or if you just want to extend your dive skills, access deeper sites, explore wrecks or see different life under water, then PADI Tec-Rec diving courses give you the opportunity to explore a deeper aquatic world and become part of the Tec diving community. From the first level of PADI Tec 40 diver to the 300 ft/100 m of the PADI Tec Trimix diver, you learn and discover a new dimension beyond the limits of recreational diving.

At Utila Dive Centre you can find all the technical diver training programs offered in both a sidemount and backmount configuration up to Trimix Instructor level and receive training supported by computer software and videos from multilingual instructors experienced in all diving environments. Our technical diving classes have a maximum size of 3 students to 1 instructor and we have many staff members to satisfy the demands of our busy calendar of Tec courses.

We keep our standards high to make sure you invest not only in certification but training as well. For the first training dives we´ll take you to the Southside of Utila. Then you'll go to the steep Northside walls of the island, and for the final dives to the remote off shore banks. The boats at Utila Dive Centre are modern and well equipped and we have our own gas blending station for mixing Nitrox and Trimix.
In 2010, our team and management wrote a sidemount specialty course and had this approved by PADI to issue sidemount diver training and certification, so if you wish, with your technical diver training we can also offer the PADI Sidemount Diver and where applicable, the PADI Sidemount Instructor course.

If you are already a qualified tec diver, then we can arrange technical diving packages that can provide you with your own boat, guides and logistical support teams.  Please read on for information about our different technical diver programs, or for more specific information please feel free to contact us at gotec@utiladivecentre.com
